Ace and the Ragers play their mix of Rock, Swing and Rockabilly tonight at the Next Decade in Oakland as part of a 4 week tour promoting their new CD Light THis Sucker Up! The group has taken a decidedly different turn from the dime-a-dozen retro-swing bands by turning their sound back to original rock and rollers like Gene Vincent and Bill Haley and mixing in more R&B sounds from the horn section. With songs like "Beer," "Girl Crazy" and "Slumber Party," the band doesn't claim that their lyrics tax listeners' brains, but the music is enough to get the audience moving and having fun.
